Collaborations

Collaborative work is an essential part of my art practice, as a playful way to relate to others

TRANS/FORM.ATION Project

2016

The TRANS/Form.ation project was one of the many projects/exhibitions I did with the art collective NOVA Printmakers. In this particular project each member was given an old mannequin torso with which to interact. We also needed to create an art print for a portfolio exchange, a common practice among printmakers. This occurred around the time I moved to Oregon, therefore I completed the project remotely. For this occasion I created a video of a ritual/performance where I burned the mannequin and used the ashes for the print.

Mail Art

2014

The Mail Art Project was a collaboration with over 50 artists over the first half of 2014 that became part of a solo exhibition at the 17 Frost art gallery in Brooklyn, NYC. The purpose of the project was to playfully interact and connect with one another. I usually started a drawing and mailed it to an artist who in turn would interact/intervene with the piece. When that piece came back I would continue to work on it or mailed it to a third artist.

The Book Of Latent Promises

2013

This collaboration with the Floating Art Collective, when I was a professor at George Mason University, took me to the Ghetto Biennale, in Port-au-Prince, to research ways to make ink from printing debris of the 2010 earthquake that devastated the Haitian capital.
